Although we like to remember and praise classic works, we must mention that contemporary artists have also left and continue to leave their mark with their sculptures. Today we want to pay tribute to some of them that deserve to be admired and contemplated forever. Would you like to explore them with us? These are some contemporary sculptures you shouldn't miss.
Must-see contemporary sculptures: Guardians of Time, United Kingdom
This work was created by Manfred Kielnhofer, who was always deeply interested in the human being as a role model and, at the same time, as a source of potential danger to the rest of society. In his sculpture, we see several figures reminiscent of monks, as well as a reflection of his exploration, consideration, and discussion of the current and historical moods and sensibilities of his social environment. In other words, his work aims to convey that, in his opinion, there is a power that always watches over us.
Octopus tower, England
In this work by Leigh Dyer, he honors the city of Hastings, which has a long chess tradition and is home to a legendary chess tournament. In it, we see how a Kraken, a legendary octopus, captures a black rook, thus paying homage to the exciting and tense chess games that take place in the city.
The Colossus of the Apennines, Italy
This sculpture by Juan de Bolonia appears to emerge from the rocks that once surrounded it. This impressive work is half man and half mountain. It represents a god holding the head of a monster emerging from the fountain, and the most incredible thing is how it blends with its surroundings, with the nature of the site where it is located (Villa Pratolino), and how it organically reproduces its forms.
Sculpture, by Fabien Mérelle
This sculpture by Mérelle, who is only 40 years old, depicts an elephant on top of a man, a very circus-like image. His works, whether drawings or sculptures, are always inspired by everyday life and human relationships, but always with a sharp irony and sarcasm. He also depicts sinister spaces and impossible relationships, even if they seem real.
